The entrance examination will consist of the following parts:
- Mathematics test. If the applicant fails to reach the minimum point level of 12 points out of 20 in this examination part, he/she will be disqualified from the entrance examination. For those who get to proceed with the examination the points got in this part will not be taken into consideration in the final points.
- Written interview questions (0 - 30 points). The applicant has to get at least 8 points from this part. But the higher and competitive score will increase the probability of selection.
- An essay (0 - 70 points). The applicant has to get at least 12 points from this part. Essay is one of the major deciding factor for the selection of student.
Following material is recommended study for Entrance:
- Fry, Sara: Ethics in Nursing Practice, A Guide to Ethical Decision Making. International Council of Nurses, edition 1994 pages 5-159, or edition 2002 pages 4-106, or edition 2008 pages 5-118.
- Marieb E. Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology. 9th edition, pages 1 - 132.
Dear sir,
ReplyDeleteI have applied for the nursing in finland. But I do not have enough materials for the entrance examination.I have known that entrance will take place in British council.I do not know what are the procedures for that. You have said that if the applicant fails to reach the minimum point level of 12 points out of 20 in this examination part, he/she will be disqualified from the entrance examination. In this I am confused by

I have many questions to ask..

I knew now how was the competition in nursing entrance. Thus time it was needed about 85% for selection in Laurea. And about 60% needed for selection in Turku. But these exams were 100% different from each others...I can make the samples for nursing programs in both laurea and for Turku as in my experience.
ReplyDeleteHello Nickheart!
ReplyDeleteCan you please write mroe about Laurea nursing exam? Was it based in case studies or facts from the book? Did they allow to have book on exam?
Thank you!
Aria
@Anonymous. I think they're pretty much different. Nursing degrees are much broader, and elderly care focuses on care giving and the likes.

I took part in the entrance examination of Laurea Nursing in spring 2012 with positive results.
ReplyDeleteThe exam had two parts, written exam based on the book (this year only the ethics book, not the anatomy one!) and an individual interview.
To succeed in the written part I think the most important thing is to understand what is said the book, (including the case examples). I guess that understanding the "big picture" is more important than just knowing small details. Also, remember to study well the terms that are used in the book. We were not allowed to take book to the exam!
The interview was nice, and the interviewers were great! Just remember to be yourself and you will be fine:) Don't stress too much about it, for me it was imperative to feel relaxed during the interview to be able to speak good english.
The atmosphere at the school was very good during the exam, even some of us had to wait for a long time for the interview. Good luck!
